HOW TO: At Home Blow-dry!

We know that there is no better feeling then leaving the salon with freshly blowdried hair. It almost feels like you could conquer the world.

Its one of the most important hairstyling techniques a girl can have in her arsenal, yet so many of our clients say they struggle to get salon worthy blowdries at home. This is why we are giving you the tricks of the trade so you get the best at home blow-dry of your life!

Cleanse, Clean, Detox : A great blow-dry starts with a clean foundation. We recommend you shampoo your hair twice every time you wash your hair, the first shampoo should detox and cleanse the hair, for this we recommend Original and Mineral’s ‘Detox Shampoo’ or ‘Rebalancing Shampoo’ from Davines and the second should eliminate any excess dirt or oil. This is especially important if you want to blow-dry and style your hair because oily hair just WONT blow-dry the way you want it to.

Prep, Prep, Prep: The next thing you need to do is towel dry your hair. We can’t stress how much easier it is to blow-dry your hair after some of the moisture has been dried out.  After you have towel dried your hair its time to apply your prescribed  products. We recommend everyone use a leave-in moisturiser which also protects against heat, our top pick is always Original and Mineral’s ‘Know Knott’.  If you’re looking to add a little extra glam to your blow-dry why not try a volumiser for root lift like Original and Mineral’s ‘Rootalicious’.

When it comes to the blow-dry itself there a few easy steps that will ensure your blow-dry looks salon perfect everytime.

  1.  Use a powerful blow-dryer with a nozzle.
  2. Start by blowdrying and soothing your roots with your fingers, staying away from your ends.
  3. Once most of the moisture is gone section out your hair- section your hair from the bottom, around from the temples and then above the ears.
  4. Use a round brush when blowdrying and blow-dry sections no larger then your brush.
  5. Finish up by flicking your hairdryer to its ‘cool’ setting-the cold air will seal your blow-dry and make it last forever… or atleast an extra day or two.
