Why is my hair falling out?
When it comes to hair loss or thinning we all know genetics and age can come into play but there is more to hair loss than these factors. Premature hair loss in particular can be affected by factors such as stress, hormones and diet. We are breaking down these factors and what you can do to improve hair loss. In most cases there are simple reasons for your hair loss and easy lifestyle changes to treat them.
Unfortunately we don’t have a magic pill for helping stress, one of the top triggers of body changes is always stress, whether its skin breakouts or hair loss stress is almost always the first reason. We often find the first thing to give into stress is our hair. If you are going through stresses its not uncommon for more strands than normal to come out when you’re brushing your hair, its also not uncommon to loose larger amounts of hair loss to occur, however we always encourage a little bit of extra self love during these times. Simple you time rituals like a hair mask might just be what your hair and your soul need.
A good diet with good fats and good proteins creates a better foundation for your health therefore your hair will be healthier, happier and grow. If you don’t get enough protein in your diet, your body may ration protein by shutting down hair or nail growth. If you struggle to add protein to you diet we recommend treatments rich in protein, Original & Mineral have a great weekly treatment The Power Base that can be added into you weekly routine to help aid hair health.
Changes in hormone levels, pregnancy, thyroid issues, periods and even the pill can wreak havoc on your hair. Oestrogen and testosterone give you strength in the follicle; the more testosterone you have, the more hair. Although we have products to help support your hair during hormonal changes and are always happy to give advice and suggests during these times we recommend seeking a medical professional.
If you are constantly pulling your hair back in a tight bun or pony, your hairline can fatigue, sometimes associated with hair loss around the hairline. This is where one of our favourite hair products comes in. Invisiboobles are designed to not pull, break or stress the hair, discouraging tension and hair breakage or loss.
We said stop pulling:
We all remember that scene in Clueless where Cher seductive plays with her hair, however, this oh so sexy act can leas to some not so sexy hair loss. When someone twists their own hair, they’re pulling that follicle quite hard. Twisting your hair like this is almost like weeding the garden.
