Hair Care - Blonde

Everything from the sun’s rays to the minerals in your water, heat tools, and some hair products can damage your blonde tresses, leaving them dry, brittle, and off-colour. But coloured or natural, blonde hair can shine when it is given a little extra attention. Here are Kundalini’s top tips for blonde hair care at home.

A carefully considered care regime, focused on adding moisture and holding colour as prescribed by your stylist is very important for blonde maintenance. To begin we recommend washing blonde hair as little as possible around every 2–3 days, using a dry shampoo in between if needed. Always shampoo twice, the first shampoo process opens the cuticle and removes product build-up, environmental pollution and oils. It’s the second shampoo that cleans the hair, while the conditioner helps by closing the cuticle. It’s the all-important moisturisers, serums, and oils that help restore your hair’s integrity.

Blonde hair is prone to fading or developing brassiness over time. While a good purple shampoo should do the job of removing unwanted yellow and brassy tones, blondes always benefit from having a great toner in their lives. You can maintain blonde brightness by visiting Kundalini as often as every 3-4 weeks for an in-house toner/treatment service and blow-dry. This whole service will only take around 60 minutes – the perfect lunch break refresher.

Avoid using products containing artificial silicons and sulphates. These wreak havoc on all hair but are particularly important to avoid for blonde hair as they can strip colour, dry the cuticle and coat the hair in a plastic-like film.

    Blonde hair loves hydration. We recommend always having a healing and nourishing oil handy, we keep ours in our car or handbag for on-the-go defrizz and nourishment. Get the most out of your products by really working them in, just like you would with your facial moisturiser.

    Weekly Treatments

    Another way to keep your hair feeling hydrated is with a post-shampoo ritual leave-in moisturiser or a weekly at-home hair treatment. Try a take-home Olaplex treatment.     Love the Pool?
